Wind band

A wind band, also called a concert band, is made up of woodwind, brass and percussion and usually no string instruments apart from an occasional double bass; that is the main difference from an orchestra. Without a string section, the melodies go to woodwind and brass instruments, and the percussion section usually has more to do.
