Six Piano Pieces ()4:08–6:25
The Opening is restless but soft: a short figure ending in a triplet passes from the right hand to the left a later, so the music unfolds as a strict (one part copying the other). After a double the music turns to A-flat major, where quiet chords, still imitated between the hands, suggest distant bells. The breaks out and leads to the A′ Section in F minor, an expressive of the opening idea. In the last major and minor chords on F alternate.
- A
- B (A-flat major)
Section boundaries in music are not always sharp; a transition may be felt over a pause or a held chord.
