A in G minor built on punctuated sixteenth-note chords. The (A1) is repeated with small changes (A2), and then a contrasting passage (B) begins on E-flat chords that echo the rhythm of the first . The (C1) starts quietly, with sweeping left-hand arpeggios and a lyrical melody in chords; a counter-melody joins in the middle voice in C2. The (A4), building to a fortissimo peak in A5, and a light arpeggio up to a high G ends the piece.
- A: A1
- A: A2
Section boundaries in music are not always sharp; a transition may be felt over a pause or a held chord.
