The opens with the sea (section A), and the same music to the piece, as the printed programme begins and ends with the sea. In between, the timeline marks six changes of scene (sections B, C, D, E, D again and G). The programme lists the storm, the island, the first stirrings of love, Ariel, Caliban, the lovers' passion and Prospero's farewell to his magic. Listen for the grotesque Caliban music and for the love music, which recalls Romeo and Juliet.
