A four- leads to the bold, eight- , the the whole piece keeps coming back to. It three times. In between come the three episodes. They are more lyrical but full of technical display: harmonics, double stops, leaps and broken chords in dotted rhythm. Two transitions move the music on, and the is a virtuoso finish.
Section boundaries in music are not always sharp; a transition may be felt over a pause or a held chord.
