Organ

A pipe organ sounds by sending air through pipes. Each set of pipes with one tone colour is switched on or off by a stop, and the player has one or more keyboards for the hands (manuals) and a pedalboard for the feet. Unlike a piano or a harpsichord, the organ holds a note at full strength for as long as the key is down. Because of its place in church services, much organ music is sacred.
