Wenn mein Schatz Hochzeit macht (When my sweetheart has her wedding day). It moves from D minor to G minor, with a bittersweet colour from oboes, bassoons, clarinets and strings. The opening section keeps switching between a two-beat and a three-beat feel, which the German article reads as the bride's happiness set against the singer's grief. The (B) relaxes into 6/8 and mostly major harmony. A and a shortened of the opening (A′) bring back the sadness.
