Finlandia0:32–8:16

The / is a dark, heavy for the brass, answered by quiet woodwinds and then strings. The builds tension with sharp, repeated brass rhythms over timpani, and the (A′) breaks out into a bright, driving for full orchestra. In the B / Hymn section everything calms: the Finlandia hymn is sung first by the woodwinds and then by the strings. The (A′), and in the the brass proclaim a broad, hymn-like before the final chords in A-flat major.
